L - Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard signed for Chelsea Football Club from West Ham in 2001. An attacking midfielder, Lampard is known for his free kicks, ability to score from anywhere in the box, and his near perfect spot kicks.

For the past decade, Lampard has been a strong figure for the club, earning the honor of vice-captain, FIFA World Player of the Year nominations six years in a row and won the Chelsea FC Player of the Year award three times (the only player to do so).

During his time at Chelsea, Lampard has won the Premiership three times (including scoring the two goals against Bolton in 2005 to secure the title for the first time in 50 years), four FA Cups, two League Cups, two Community Shields, and the UEFA Champions League.

He is the Premier League Player of the Decade. He is the only player to score at least 10 goals in nine consecutive Premier League seasons. He was Chelsea’s top scorer in 2004-05, 2005-06, 2007-08 and 2011-12. He has the most goals from a midfielder ever in the Premier League (151 goals total) (only 37 have been penalties). He could easily overtake Bobby Tambling for most Chelsea goals of all time next season.

I could sit here for hours and give you reason upon reason as to why Frank Lampard is the greatest player Chelsea has ever seen (some will argue Gianfranco Zola was, and we’ll get to that later…). But in my humble opinion, Lampard is everything you want a player to be - dynamic, smart, confident and dedicated. He is Chelsea blue through and through, and he will never give up. Even when the entire world is telling him to quit.

Jose Mourinho once said, “[Frank Lampard is] the best professional I have ever worked with. More concentration, more commitment, always focused on himself. Never happy about his performance, always want to improve, always want to learn. If he does some skill in a game where he misses it, the next day in training he wants to stay one more hour to practice.”

Frank Lampard will be 34 years old on June 20th. He’s already a Chelsea legend. And he’s not done yet.
